FOCUS is a spiritual organization of the North East American Diocese of Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church that caters the spiritual growth and renewal of the older youth above the age of 23. FOCUS is officially established by the Diocesan Metropolitan’s Kalpana in September 2015. FOCUS goals include spiritual enrichment for young professionals and couples via prayer meetings, Bible Studies, and Counselling Sessions led by trained professionals. It also provides training to young adults to be active in the administration and activities on the parish level. It also aims to make use of the skills and experience of young adults to provide a support system for the younger age group of the Church via Sunday School, MGOCSM and OVBS.

Mar Gregorios Orthodox Christian Student Movement

MGOCSM is the oldest Christian student organization developed under Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church. It was formed as ““ Syrian Student Conference’ in 1907. In 1960, ‘Syrian Student Conference’ was changed to ‘Mar Gregorios orthodox Christian Student Movement’, under the prayerful patronship and intercession of St. Gregorios of Parumala. The organization works under their motto of ‘Worship, Study and Service’. The MGOCSM started its activity in North America since the 1980s .The organization expanded its ministry in North America by partaking in annual mission trips to India and other places in America, leadership camps, and much more. In addition to this, it also conducts various events such as retreats, seminars, bible studies, vocation services etc.

Martha Mariyam Vanitha Samajam

Martha Mariam Samajam is the Women’s spiritual association of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church. It was founded in 1920 under the leadership of the Rev. M. C. Kuriakose Remban and K.M. Annamma of blessed memory, and many others.

Samajam participates actively in various church wide and diocese wide conferences, retreats, seminars and other related programs for the enrichment of the Women.

Martha Mariam Samajam of the Northeast Merican Diocese conducts many fund raising efforts for various charities. Such projects include marriage air for poor young girls in India, fianancial assistance to those families afflicted with a terminal illness and ensuring proper medical coverage poor and ailing families.

Samajam also promotes teaching and learning of the faith and tradition through ‘Divyabodhanam’ and two leadership training centers in Muttontown, NY and Linden, NJ.

Another spiritual ministry that began in 2012 was ‘GROW’ (God Renewing Orthodox Women) . GROW promotes similar services to the younger women. This Organization continue to rally and live its motto of ‘pray, act and shine’ in every walks of their life.The church offers prayer and other activities for the ministry on August 15th, the Feast of the Dormition of the St. Mary, the Mother of God, the patron of this spiritual organization.

SUNDAY SCHOOL

The Sunday school is considered as one of the strongest and disciplined church Organization that teaches ministry by ensuring the Faith, Discipline and Traditions of the Holy Church to all the young children.  We believe it provides our children a platform to learn about our Holy Bible and bring them close to orthodox faith. Our Church follows the curriculum set forward by North East American Diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church. The Curriculum involves teaching of the Holy Scripture, Lives of the Saints, History of Christianity, and much more. Sunday school is held after the Holy Qurbana every Sunday.
